Cheryl's Guides
See the world from a different perspective
If you’re looking for something different in a travel guide, Cheryl’s Guides just might be what you’re looking for.
When I travel, Ilike to seek out places that are off the beaten tourist path. They're less crowded than mainstream attractions and just as enjoyable because I'm not fighting crowds to see what’s there. And I like to get to these places by public transportation as it provides another opportunity to meet locals.
I published my first do-it-yourself guide, 17 really neat things to see and do in Beijing and other good stuff I learned the hard way, back in 1996. It was a hit with readers. Over the years it was updated and expanded until, in 2009, it became DIY Beijing: a guide for the independent traveler.
I've since writtten more guides, which resulted in creating my own guidebook line, Cheryl's Guides. More guides are on the drawing board. Here's what I have so far:

Please note my guides are not the be-all guide of travel guides. There are few hotel or restaurant recommendations, only those that I have personal experience with. Cheryl’s Guides are meant to compliment mainstream guidebooks, taking travelers to places these guides frequently ignore or pointing out different things to look for at mainstream attractions.
